A Vision Africa Climate Action Initiative
Youth for Green Tomorrow (YGT) is a faith-inspired climate action project under Vision Africa that empowers church youth to take a leading role in environmental restoration and sustainable livelihoods. We believe that young people are not just the future β they are the force for change today.
Through YGT, we bring together youth groups from local churches to learn, plant, and nurture trees as a response to the growing impacts of climate change.
To empower church youth with the knowledge, tools, and opportunities to restore the environment, combat climate change, and create sustainable income through tree and flower nurseries.
YGT begins by organizing workshops and mentorship sessions where young people learn about:
Each participating church youth group establishes a community tree nursery. The nurseries produce a variety of seedlings β fruit trees, shade trees, and indigenous species β that are later sold to households, schools, and farmers at modest, affordable prices.
This approach not only promotes reforestation but also provides youth with a practical source of income and skills for green entrepreneurship.
To enhance sustainability and creativity, youth also venture into flower propagation for home and church gardens. By cultivating and selling ornamental plants, they create additional revenue streams while beautifying their communities and promoting environmental stewardship.
Grounded in the biblical principle of stewardship (Genesis 2:15), YGT reminds young believers that caring for the earth is an act of worship and love for Godβs creation. Through church-led initiatives, the program nurtures spiritual growth, teamwork, and practical action for a greener, more hopeful tomorrow.
